LP Metal Detecting Rental Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern the rental of metal detecting equipment supplied by LP Metal Detecting and managed through our rental partner, Renticy. By placing a rental order, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.


1. Rental Provider

LP Metal Detecting supplies the rental equipment.

All bookings, payments, deposits and rental agreements are managed securely through Renticy.


2. Eligibility

To rent equipment you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a UK resident (unless otherwise agreed).
  • Provide valid government-issued photo identification.
  • Provide proof of address if requested.
  • Successfully complete any verification checks required by Renticy.

LP Metal Detecting and Renticy reserve the right to refuse any rental application without providing a reason.


3. Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit is required for every rental.

The deposit will be held until:

  • All equipment has been returned.
  • The equipment has been inspected.
  • The equipment is confirmed to be complete and in satisfactory condition.

Refunds are normally processed back to the original payment method.

Where damage, missing items or excessive cleaning is identified, the appropriate costs may be deducted from the deposit.

If these costs exceed the deposit amount, you agree to pay the outstanding balance.


4. Identification

Before equipment is released, you may be required to provide:

  • Driving Licence
  • Passport
  • Proof of address
  • Any additional verification requested by Renticy

Failure to complete verification may result in cancellation of the booking.


5. Rental Period

The rental period begins on the agreed collection or delivery date.

The rental ends on the agreed return date.

Equipment must be returned by the agreed deadline unless an extension has been approved before the rental expires.


6. Rental Extensions

If you'd like to keep your detector for longer, contact us before your rental ends.

Extensions are subject to equipment availability and cannot be guaranteed.

Additional rental charges will apply.


7. Delivery & Collection

Rental equipment is available for UK delivery or collection.

Orders placed before 2:00pm (Monday-Friday) may qualify for next working day dispatch, subject to availability.

Customers may also collect from our warehouse by prior arrangement.

Hourly rentals are collection only and cannot be delivered.

Customers collecting equipment may be asked to present the identification used during the booking process.


8. Equipment Supplied

Unless otherwise stated, your rental includes:

  • Metal detector
  • Search coil
  • Headphones (where supplied as standard)
  • Battery and charging equipment
  • Essential accessories supplied with the detector

Contents vary between detector models.


9. Equipment Condition

Every detector is professionally cleaned, tested and inspected before every rental.

This includes inspection of:

  • Search coil
  • Control unit
  • Battery
  • Charging equipment
  • Shaft assembly
  • Accessories

By accepting the equipment, you acknowledge it has been received in good working order unless any issues are reported immediately.


10. Your Responsibilities

During the rental period you agree to:

  • Take reasonable care of the equipment.
  • Use it only for its intended purpose.
  • Protect it from avoidable damage.
  • Keep it secure when unattended.
  • Return all supplied accessories.
  • Notify us immediately if equipment develops a fault.

Equipment must not be:

  • Modified
  • Opened or dismantled
  • Repaired by anyone other than LP Metal Detecting
  • Loaned or sub-let to another person
  • Used for commercial hire without written permission
  • Taken outside the United Kingdom without prior written approval

11. Loss, Theft or Damage

You remain responsible for the equipment throughout the rental period.

If equipment is:

  • Lost
  • Stolen
  • Accidentally damaged
  • Deliberately damaged

you may be charged repair or replacement costs up to the current retail value.

Loss or theft must be reported immediately.

Where theft is involved, a police crime reference number may be required.


12. Excessive Cleaning

Our detectors are designed to be used outdoors.

Normal dirt and wear are expected.

However, equipment returned with excessive mud, saltwater residue, corrosion, sand contamination or requiring significant cleaning may incur a reasonable cleaning charge.


13. Late Returns

Late returns are charged at the standard daily rental rate.

Charges apply for up to 7 calendar days after the agreed return date.

If equipment has not been returned after seven days and no alternative arrangement has been agreed, LP Metal Detecting and Renticy reserve the right to:

  • Charge the full retail value of the equipment.
  • Recover any outstanding rental charges.
  • Recover associated costs.
  • Report the matter to the appropriate authorities where equipment is believed to have been unlawfully retained.

14. Faults During Hire

If equipment develops a genuine fault during your rental, contact LP Metal Detecting immediately.

Do not attempt to repair or dismantle the equipment.

Where appropriate, we may:

  • Offer technical assistance.
  • Replace the equipment (subject to availability).
  • Agree another suitable resolution.

15. Cancellations

Bookings cancelled before dispatch may be eligible for a refund in accordance with Renticy's cancellation policy.

Once equipment has been dispatched or collected, rental charges are generally non-refundable.


16. Liability

LP Metal Detecting accepts no responsibility for:

  • Loss of finds.
  • Missed detecting opportunities.
  • Damage caused through misuse.
  • Injury resulting from improper use.
  • Losses arising from weather, transport delays or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Customers are responsible for ensuring they:

  • Have permission to detect.
  • Follow all applicable laws.
  • Comply with the Metal Detecting Code of Practice.

17. Failure to Return Equipment

Failure to return hired equipment without prior agreement may be treated as unlawful retention of property.

LP Metal Detecting and Renticy reserve the right to recover the equipment, recover all associated costs and, where appropriate, report the matter to the police.


18. Privacy

Personal information provided during the rental process is processed solely for the purpose of identity verification, fraud prevention and administration of your rental agreement.

Information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection legislation.


19. Force Majeure

Neither LP Metal Detecting nor Renticy shall be liable for delays or failure to perform obligations where caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, courier disruption, industrial action, natural disasters or government restrictions.


20. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
